Everything under one roof
IMC's Birmingham, Alabama facility houses our complete operation — engineering, design, machining, fabrication, assembly, testing, and laboratory — in a single campus. This vertically integrated approach gives us direct control over every phase of machine development, from initial concept through final testing.
Engineering and design
Mechanical engineering. Every IMC machine is fully modeled in 3D before manufacturing begins — every detail, down to the bolts. Complete solid models let customers review and approve designs, catch interface issues, and plan installation before the first part is cut. That level of detail is also what makes assembly predictable and documentation trustworthy for the life of the machine.
Controls engineering. Our controls group handles the machine's nervous system end to end: PLC and HMI programming, electrical schematics, and control panel design — all developed in-house alongside the mechanical design rather than bolted on afterward. Programs, drawings, and panel layouts ship with the machine, built to the controls standard your plant runs.
Manufacturing
In-house CNC machining, fabrication, welding, and assembly. We manufacture the bulk of every machine in-house — critical components are made on our own equipment by our own machinists, so dimensional accuracy and surface quality are held to IMC's specifications. For the remainder, IMC draws on an extensive network of trusted local suppliers, keeping quality control close and lead times short.
Assembly and testing
Every machine is fully assembled and tested at our facility before shipping. This means the machine runs, the controls are commissioned, and the systems are verified before the equipment leaves Birmingham. Customers are welcome to visit during assembly and witness testing firsthand.
Laboratory
Our in-house lab is equipped with coating, calendering, and slitting systems for customer trials and process development. This capability allows customers to validate their process before committing to production equipment, and provides IMC's engineering team with hands-on process knowledge that informs machine design.
